«nᵐᵉˢʰ – Art x Science»

«nᵐᵉˢʰ – Art x Science» is a knitwear collection that brings together artists, designers, and scientists from a wide range of disciplines. This transdisciplinary exchange has resulted in seven knit sweaters based on current research at the University of Zurich, making that research tangible and narrative through the medium of knitwear.

This collection was created in collaboration with MRC Knitwear, Textil AG, and Biella Yarn (Südwolle).

Collaboration

Inspired by Prof Greta Patzke’s research on cobalt-cubane molecules, the Mirabella-Morganti design team focused on creating a precise and easily recognizable visualization of the cubic structure. The gray lines represent carbon, light blue represents nitrogen, red represents oxygen, and dark blue represents cobalt. Through mirroring and strategic arrangement of the motif, a geometric knit pattern with a clean, graphic aesthetic emerged, transferring the beauty of the molecular structure to the garment and the wearer.
